The Central Assiniboine Watershed District (CAWD) is a grass roots organization, which is a
partnership between the Province of Manitoba and 20 municipal partners. Our vision is to
envision a future where communities, agriculture and the environment area healthy,
sustainable and in balance with one and other. We do this by working with producers within
the watershed on soil and water health programming.
CAWD is hiring a Prairie Watershed Climate Program coordinator. The role will help with delivery of
programming and projects within CAWD. Reporting to the District Manager, this position focuses on
delivering programming and projects within CAWD.
The position will start June 1, 2023 and run until June 30, 2024. With an extension possible at the end of
that term.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Strong communication skills:
o Written communication and analysis: experience writing progress reports and project
proposals for internal and external audiences.
o Verbal communication: clear, proactive communication with internal and external
partners.
- Experience with fieldwork and meeting with producers reviewing and discussing potential
projects on the landscape.
- Experience with hand held GPS or willing to learn.
- Experience with survey RTK equipment or willing to learn.
- Experience using laser levels or willing to learn.
- Demonstrate competence with software such as word processor, excel, ArcGIS, email,
videoconferencing. Ability to troubleshoot issues with software and pick up new software
quickly.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintaining a consistent schedule and strong
productivity.
- Ability to lift & carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Class 5 drivers license and able to drive for extended period.

Assets:
- Experience in the agriculture and conservation sector.
- Experience compiling data collected in the field in order to create maps, and or reports for in
house use or external use.
- Post secondary degree or equivalent work in agriculture or environment field.
- Possessing a Professional Algologist designation.
